You bet!
I’ve just bought the Linux-version of
Quake from a Danish reseller of
Lokigames, called
linuxspil.dk. And it plays beautifully :-)
With my new
V7700
GeForce2 Ultra
graphicscard from Asus, I can play the game at a
resolution of 1600×1200 under Linux (just as I can under Windows). I think it’s
nice to see, that the hardware manufactures are finally providing desent drivers
for Linux.

Yesterday I stumbled across something called Domino Day 2000. It turned out
to be an attempt to break the world-record in making a chain-reaction. Over
3 million domino bricks tumblet over — it took about 100 minutes.
70 students had been working for 7 weeks to make it possible, and then it’s
all over in just one and a half hour :-) It was quite funny to watch,
though.

We finally got ourselves a DVD-player today. So now we can watch DVDs on
the TV. After I got my 21″ monitor, it has been nice to watch DVDs on the
computer, but when you play the sound through a real set of speakers, and
sit in a comftable couch, the whole experience just gets better.
Now I only need some more DVDs… :-)

At the ANP netparty last weekend, I saw a GeForce 256 in action. And it was
easy to see how powerful it is. On a Pentium
III 800 MHz it ran games at
1600×1200 with maximum detail levels!
So I decided that I need a GeForce in preparation for the next party. Since
the GeForce2 Ultra has yet to arrive in Denmark (and considering that it will be
quite expensive), I choose a V7700
Deluxe from
Asus.
Another exciting thing about these GeForce cards, it that
NVIDIA is making Linux drivers! This
means that I’ll be able to get accelerated
OpenGL, which will be used intensively in
upcoming versions of Enlightenment. As you
can see on my screenshots-page, I can only make 15-20
FPS even with my new
Athlon. On the
Enlightenment-maillinglist there have been
reports of frame rates of 100 FPS. So it will be exciting to see how my system
compare to that.

Tonight we’re having a netparty at Aalborghus.
People are shooting each other to pieces in games like Half-Life
Counter-Strike and Unreal
Tournament.
I’ve been showing off Linux with Enlightenment
and EFM — after I upgraded my computer, things look more beautiful than ever.
900 MHz makes life sweet :-)
