They’ve sent my printer!

Epson EPL5800PS

Today I’ve received a mail from www.itbutikken.dk that said that they’ve sent my printer! If I’m really lucky, it’ll arrive today — but if it doesn’t, it should arrive on Monday.

www.itbutikken.dk has a really great Track & Trace-system where you can get up-to-the-minute information about your order. The page is update when they confirm the order, when they send the items etc…

So it seams that I get a chance to print at least one of my physics reports using the printer, assuming that I can get it to work properly :-)

No news for a while — again…

Yes I know — I should update this page more often. But I’ve just been busy lately… So let me just give you an update on what I’ve been up to:

Making Physics reports

Because we’re a little behind schedule in physics, we’ve had to make a report every week for the last six weeks. That’s simply too much… But now I’ve finally managed to write most of them — one more and I’m all done!

The problem is, that we’re experimenting with the same stuff that we did last year: we’ve made two reports about how radioactive elements behave… It pretty boring stuff, and because there’s so many questions, you can’t really just finish it quickly.

Sort-project

I’ve been fooling around with a lot of pointers lately — we’re writing a program that implements several different algorithms for sorting a linked list. It a project we’re making in our computer-science class, by “we” I mean: Cookie, Ole and Tais.

I’ve written something that resembles a Quicksort, but so far it can only be called a semi-slow-Quicksort :-) It’s slower that a Mergesort Ole has written, but at least it’s quicker that a Treesort I’ve made…

Hopefully we’ll be able to optimize it a bit before the project it finished.

Waiting for my EPL-5800PS

First I was told by www.itbutikken.dk that my printer would arrive on April the 25th. But it didn’t show up — now they say that it’ll be here on May the 10th. I really hope that they’re correct this time.

It’s a shame that it won’t make it before I’ve finished all my physics reports — I’m can’t wait to print my beautiful reports written in LaTeX with a 1200 DPI printer :-)

I’ll try to make another update soon — but my first written exam is on May the 10th, so don’t expect too much activity up to that “event”.

Hey, a CVS-release of PHP Weather!

In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve made a CVS-release of PHP Weather. This means that you can try out the latest code, even if you don’t have a machine with CVS installed.

I’ve been quite busy lately, and since my exams starts next month, I’ll have lots of things to do… But luckily, people are beginning to join the project at SourceForge and I hope we’ll be able to make a nice little webpage at http://phpweather.sourceforge.net.

Black & White…

Black & White

My littlebrother bought Black & White the other day, and have been playing it constantly ever since… And I must say, that this is probably the most beautiful game I’ve ever seen. The amount of detail in the graphics are simply stunning. If you zoom in, you can see the expressions on peoples faces, and if you zoom all the way out, you end up looking down on your island through some nice fluffy clouds.

The graphics reminds me of Populous The Beginning and the AI-part of the gameplay reminds me of Dungeon Keeper. Peter Molyneux has developed all these games — a very talented guy. Like in Dungeon Keeper you control everything by using your Hand — you can pick things up and put them down again (or throw then around). One of the goals was to remove all icons from the game — this means that you select your miracles by doing gestures on the ground: drawing the correct symbol activates the right miracle.

Black & White also has some quite interesting network features, like a built-in email-client, a weather-system that gives you the same weather in the game, as the one you have outside your windows. Your Creature (you have a learning creature that can help you) also maintains a real homepage on the Internet! When I first heard about this, I thought it was a joke, but it really is true — amazing :-)

A new printer

Epson EPL5800PS

I’ve now ordered the EPL-5800PS! The bad news is that it won’t arrive until the 25th of April — that’s 14 days from now… It seams that there isn’t a big marked for these Epson printers, because I couldn’t find it in stock anywhere. Oh well — I guess that I’ll just have to sit tight until it arrives.

I can’t wait to see how my LaTeX documents look when printed by it. I have been using a HP DeskJet 970Cxi for my printing until now. Because it’s an inkjet, the output is slightly fuzzy. Not to mention that I have to move the files to a machine running Windows to print them…
