Feeling nervous? Want to lose weight?
Lately my site has seen a bunch of spam comments about Phentermine, Alprazolam, and other drugs… luckily they have all been caught by the builtin spam filters in WordPress. But what are all those drugs about anyway, and will people really buy drugs from some website (usually with a not so trustworthy name…) found via a link buried deep in a discussion about PHP Shell?!
A quick search on Google explains that Phentermine is used for loosing weight by lowering the appitite, and Alprazolam is used to relieve anxiety, nervousness, and tension. But is there really such a big market for such drugs?
I guess so, just as there has to be a market for all stuff email spam try to sell us. You know, those appliances and drugs that promise to enlarge various body parts in no time! :-)

I get a lot of that shit to. Only apparently I’m more of a poker person, at least that’s the comment and trackback spam I get.
18 August 2005, 4:14 pmFunny, huh, apparently you should lose weight, and I should play more poker :-)
Martin Geisler:
:-) Hmm, I don’t know how to play poker and I’m pretty sure that I don’t need to loose weight (and I’m feeling pretty relaxed too) — those adds could sure use some targeting technology.

You betcha… I guess research and academic skills aren’t a top priority of them.
18 August 2005, 6:46 pmBut then again maybe someone will click on it out of curiosity, thereby making it all worth while…
Martin Geisler:
Nope, they have none of those skills… and from reading spam mails I’ve also concluded that many of them have no spelling skills either! ;-)

Funny thing about this post is that your own Google Ads now displays similar ads. How is that for irony!?

I see so many bullshits about losing weight using drugs… It seems everyone want an instant solution to their weight problem … i still believe exercise regularly, eat healthy food and have a good rest can maintain our health for long….

Sorry, but this is really bugging me: its “LOSE,” not “LOOSE.” As in lose weight.. or your shoelaces are loose.

Comment 8: Thank you very much for pointing out my mistake! I often mistake “loose” for “lose” and “seamed” for “seemed”… :-(

Dude…I can’t live with alprazolam for anxiety, so don’t knock it! Fortunately I have a legit scrip and get a 30-day supply at the pharmacy for less than $5.
I don’t know whether the diet drugs do anything. My gf orders them online, but if they actually do anything, I can’t tell. It’s her money

I think weight loss is all about three things - attitude, diet and exercise. From my experience, reducing carb intake and doing aerobic exercises are keys to successful weight loss.

I feel for you Martin. Dealing with spammers on blogs and websites that has comments sections is the latest craze. Everyone wants higher Google SERP rankings and to get them they need incoming one way links from other websites. Unfortunately to accomplish this they cruise blogs and drop advertisment link bombs on everyones comments pages. On our site, they do it on the guestbook section. I deal by simply having that set for me to approve comments. If its spam it gets nixed. So it was just a waste of time for the spammer.
