Bugger - ran out of news again…

I’m still not conencted to the Internet at home, so I haven’t been updating this page for some time now… The problem is, that I update the page through a couple of shell-scripts, so when I’m at DAIMI, it takes a good amount of work for me to update the page.

But I still hope to go online this month, perhaps after the autumn holydays, which starts today! I’ll be in Aalborg the first couple of days, and then return to rhus later next week.

Still going strong - sort of

I haven’t update these pages as much as I wanted to lately. But that’s because I don’t have access to the Internet from my new home :-( We’re going to be hooked up to Bolignet-Aarhus, and it was scheduled to be finished last Monday, but there’s still nothing. Hopefully I’ll be back online in a couple of weeks.

This also means that I haven’t checked my mail for some time now. I try to keep up with it over the Web from Uni, but it’s still pretty annoying. So if you’ve written to me, and I haven’t answered, it’s because I haven’t read your mail — sorry.

Bye for now!

A sad day for the World

I heard about the terrible tragedy that has hit America when I was on my way home from university. I talked with my younger brother over the phone and at first I didn’t believe him — it didn’t make any sense that hijacked planes would strike The World Trade Center and The Pentagon.

When I got home I realized the terrible truth. I’ve corresponded with many thanks to PHP Weather, many of which was American. I sincerely hope that they are well and I hope that the persons responsible for this will be put to justice soon. They have to understand that terror doesn’t help them — it only brings suffering to the World. First to the ones they hit, but eventually to themselves as the World becomes a sick place to live.

University is great!

I’ve now had my first full week at the University of Aarhus and I like it! The mathematics is interesting: we’re starting with matrices and Euclidean spaces in one course and the complex numbers in the other math course. Computer Science is pretty easy for me, as I already know how to program, but it’s fun nevertheless. We’re using Java which is easy for me to learn as it is very similar to PHP.

I’ve also found a place to live in rhus — it’s called SkejbygÃ¥rd Kollegiet. It’s almost brand new, it was built in 1994, and has a broadband Internet connection. Right now I’m using a 56K modem which is terrible slow! I’m really starting to look forward to the move which will be on the 15th this month.

That’s it for now — I’ll write again when I get the time.

Starting at the University

I’ll start at Aarhus University tomorrow. The first week is set aside to help the new students get a good start. We’ll be helped by tutors — older students who’re supposed to know the answers to all our questions, or at least to know the right person to ask. The tutors will show us the University, tell us about our study and help us find our way around things.

But we’ll also be having some real lectures — the first will be held this Wednesday and the subject is Math. It’s going to be exciting to see how it goes.
